Workplace Viral Biohazard Awareness
This package is certified by Lantra Awards
The diversity and frequency of situations when staff may be exposed to threats of infection from human body fluids, and risk from animal to human transfer, is huge in some sectors.
This half day training package is designed to raise awareness of the risks posed by water and blood borne viruses, how staff may come in to contact with them, what the potential impact may be, and simple steps to avoid infection.
Due to its certification by Lantra Awards the package will fulfil the requirements of any risk assessment and considerably reduce the risk rating, which in turn will demonstrate your commitment to your staff.
The content can be biased to suit the specific needs of your staff.
Group size is a maximum of 12. It is about 2 ½ - 3 hours long, and can be delivered twice in a day to make it exceptionally cost effective.

The session
The session is trainer led discussion based exploring the objectives of the course with further interesting and critical information introduced into the discussions by the trainer.
Once all information areas have been discussed and explored by the candidate the trainer will lead a classroom based exercise in dynamic risk assessment at potential bio hazard sites and explore safe practice and methodology with the delegates.
The next progression of the session is a practical exercise where under the supervision of the trainer, and with control measures to ensure complete safety in place, the delegates will use PPE and equipment to safely practice some of the techniques required to deal with a biohazard, and discuss others.
Basic methodology
There will be lots of discussion and trainer led information delivery. The candidate specific environment will be very much taken into consideration. If appropriate there will be practical demonstrations and participation by candidates in safe practice to meet their needs.
The session will be relaxed, light hearted and inclusive, but with a lot of knowledge and skills gained, which will transfer into best practice in the workplace.
