MASSIVE CHANGES IN THE TRAINING WORLD
Hi Everyone
I have been working very hard keeping Marksman at the cutting edge of service delivery. If you have not heard, all training in the UK will be regulated within a maximum of 5 years. This will include all private sector training delivery including in house training.
'YEAH RIGHT' - I hear you cry. If you don't believe me please visit www.LLUK.org the Sector Skills Council responsible for developing, steering and implementing the new standards.
In essence, if you deliver training, you need a teaching qualification. All previous teaching qualifications such as NVQ's Cert Ed. etc will put you on the map of the new standards somewhere. I have no clue where the old Lantra Awards instructors course will fit, if at all, to be very honest with you. I suspect that you may have to provide evidence to support your skills at some stage, so start keeping a diary of what training you are having and what you are delivering.
I have been working with Lantra Awards and I have established that new trainers/instructors should hold a new VRQ level 3 in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS or petals) Catchy name eh!.
Again being very honest, you can go to college and get this award but you will be taught by a teacher and not a practical skills trainer, and it will take 6-9 months part time. Now that is really useful for industry is it not ;-) I knew that was not good for us in the private sector, so I have developed the instructor course into a fast track training for this new award. It is still 5 days with a little bit of work prior to, and following, and a lot of fun and hard work for me making sure it is easy for you. Getting this award means you are safe from whatever change occurs and how cool to have it.
I ran the pilot course 3-7th december 2007 and it went a dream. The feedback was fantastic and we all worked hard and achieved what we needed to do. The nice thing for me was that the odd bit we thought could make easier we have sorted out so it will be seamless from now on. I am reviewing my information packs etc. as we speak.
I am looking forward to helping you achieve this new award. This is all happening very fast and I know there will be training managers and individuals feeling unsure, need to see the big picture or need to talk this through -please get in touch.
Best wishes
Mike
