New PTLLS Standards - IMPORTANT!!
Posted: 25 Oct 2011
OK so here's the deal. The PTLLS standards have been reviewed and revised. Guidance was sent to the Awarding Bodies including City and Guilds in July of this year. The awarding bodies are in the process of interpreting the new standards and coming up with new paperwork and guidance for people like me who deliver it, so we can re-write the course to fit these new standards.
I have seen a draft of this guidance and there are going to be some significant changes. At the moment PTLLS is 6 credits, or 60 hours work by candidates, which is accommodated by our present course. The big change is that it will change to a 12 credit award so potentially up to 120 hours work by candidates, and there are some changes to the curriculum itself, but here's the shocker, it will still be a level 3 award.
I am advised that we can register candidates on the current standards till the end of the year then at some stage we will have to change to the new version of the award. It will still be the same qualification whichever standards you achieve it on. The bottom line is that until I get sight of the new requirements I absolutely cannot guarantee that it can be done in the current 5 day format, it may be longer which will obviously be reflected in the cost.
Our advice is to grab a place before the end of the year to guarantee you achieve this award with the minimum fuss. If we get oversubscribed we will put on extra courses so nobody is disadvantaged.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Mike
