Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
City and Guilds 6302 - PTLLS or Petals
Delivered in house for your convenience
About our dual certificated 5 day course
Work based trainers from any sector either require immediately, or soon may require, a new teaching qualification called Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS or petals). This is a new standard for work based trainers, and if required as the changes occur, will be your initial licence to deliver training of any sort, in any place. PTLLS is recognised by awarding bodies, trade associations, training organisations and Further Education.
This course is certified and fully recognised by Lantra Awards (Awarding Body) as the qualification required to register with them as an instructor if you intend to deliver their courses.
Our 5 day course has been redesigned to meet the standard required by Lantra Awards and be a fast track training route to achieve PTLLS. Our personal recommendation is to get both qualifications at the same time, and have total qualification security and occupational flexibility in the future.
Why Marksman?
Marksman is a unique company run by myself, Mike Green. I was a firearms team trainer for a major metropolitan police service till I left having served 30 years. I decided to take my experience as a practical skills trainer into the private sector.
In brief I qualified as a trainer over 20 years ago, having attended a national instructor's course. I was taught facilitation and student centred learning. I have been a developing practitioner since then.
A few years ago I began trainer training and I trained around forty firearms trainers in instructional techniques. I also attended further trainers courses at Bramshill and Harrogate Police Training Colleges. I am an NVQ A unit learning and development assessor currently assessing police trainers. I have loads of other relevant qualifications as well.
Due to my own continued development I can guarantee that our candidates will be taught the most up to date, effective, cutting edge proven teaching methods. I can guarantee this because over the years I have just about tried every new idea and fad. My students were firearms team operatives, and vocational trainers, who could hardly be described as tree huggers, so I got pretty direct feedback if they were not keen on me trying some of the more 'trendy' ideas being put forward by educational academics. I am a real world practical skills trainer who wore boots and overalls when I taught in a safety critical industry. I have smart simple ways to deliver these awards at any level, in any place to pretty much anybody.
We only work in partnership with trainers who can deliver our courses to our exacting standards
We are proud to have successfully qualified hundreds of vocational trainers from many sectors in these awards
The Course - Minimum 6 Maximum 12
Our deliver strategy is very flexible. We can deliver in a five day block, or we can split the course into two blocks of three and two days, and we will consider weekend delivery if it helps.
Our candidates will experience and explore accelerated learning techniques over five days. The course is intensive but going at a pace where nobody is excluded. There is a lot of discussion and practice. This mixed with smart, simple techniques and psychology will ensures that our candidates are confident, effective trainers with recognised qualifications.
During the course our candidates will generate evidence to meet the standards of City and Guilds 6302 PTLLS. The evidence is presented in the form of a portfolio. All assignments and the portfolio of evidence can be completed during the five days. When the portfolio is complete and assessed, certificates will be issued.
