Trainer/teacher training
REDESIGNED TO MEET NEW STANDARDS IN 2008
New trainers from any sector either require immediately, or soon will require, a new teaching certificate called Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS or petals). This is a new VRQ which is, or will be your initial licence to deliver training of any sort, in any place. Our 5 day course has been redesigned to meet the standard required by Lantra Awards and be a fast track training route to achieve PTLLS.
Full PTLLS course including Lantra Awards certification
Candidates will experience and explore accelerated learning techniques over 5 days. The course is intensive but going at a pace where nobody is excluded. There is a lot of discussion and practice, mixed with smart, simple techniques and psychology to ensure that candidates become effective trainers, and achieve the VRQ.
During the course candidates will be assessed in the areas of delivery and giving developmental feedback, and having demonstrated your skills you will evidence this in the form of a portfolio. Once completed you will receive a certificate from Lantra Awards, and the level 3 PTLLS VRQ to recognise your effort. All assessments and much of the VRQ portfolio is completed during the week.
Lantra Awards certification only
There is an option to receive only a Lantra Awards certificate and leave with evidence that will possibly be of use as evidence of accredited prior learning when you are required to hold the PTLLS award. We would not recommend this course of action as new standards for work based trainers are to be established this year and PTLLS will be required.
Lantra Awards recommend that new trainers achieve PTLLS
Conversion/refresher
This three day package is designed as an update for candidates who have previous teaching qualifications and require evidence of continued professional development.
It is run alongside the full course but recognises the skills in the room. The feedback is fantastic, and generally along the lines of ‘I now understand what I have been doing for years’ and all delegates see their own personal development as instructors because of the course.
Again this is an assessed course in the areas of using a structure to deliver, and giving developmental feedback. The certificate of achievement is issued and recognised by Lantra Awards
